Question 1

What are the emissions standards for London ULEZ compliance?

Accepted Answer

To avoid the daily Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge in London, petrol cars generally must meet Euro 4 standards (generally registered from 2006 onwards) and diesel cars must meet Euro 6 standards (generally registered from Sept 2015 onwards).

Question 2

Do Clean Air Zones outside London use the same standards?

Accepted Answer

Most UK Clean Air Zones (such as Birmingham, Bristol, Bath, and Sheffield) align with Euro 4 for petrol and Euro 6 for diesel, though local charging rules and boundaries vary by city council.

Question 3

How can I verify if a specific car is ULEZ compliant?

Accepted Answer

You can enter the vehicle's registration on Transport for London's (TfL) official vehicle checker or check the Euro status listed on the vehicle's V5C logbook.
